Adele “30” Album Review

The long awaited album from Adele is finally here!!! Did I cry by the second song? Absolutely. Track 2 titled “My Little Love” features an emotional voice memo conversation between Adele and her son where she is heard crying telling him about her struggles with anxiety and her lack of belief in herself after her divorce. A very vulnerable decision for any parent to share such conversations, while trying to adjust to life as a divorcee with a young child.
As if the world hasn’t cried enough to her past albums she releases one more to do just the same. 30 shares a personal story of Adele’s journey to self acceptance through some of the hardest times in her life. This album includes her infamous ballad style but also explores new genres. On the tracks “Cry Your Heart Out” and “Love is a Game” Adele seems to be trying out a more soulful approach with her vocals something unusual that I was not prepared to hear. Like the rest of the world I was ready for big ballads and pop ballads, though the album features a few of those as well with songs like “Easy On Me.”

30 is the introduction to the new Adele as she mentioned in her interview with Oprah during her ‘One Night Only’ Tv special some of the most beautiful and special songs can come from pain, life isn’t perfect so she expresses her feelings in song and it helps her to move on and not dwell on the hard times. 30 will definitely go down in history as one of the most vulnerable albums to be released by a major recording artist. Adele has truly set the bar for the music industry and will only continue to set that bar higher and higher.
Overall for me this album was an 8/10!

-XOXO Rachel
